• Jeffrey Lewis and Seth Faergolzia - Birmingham Ballroom

Two of NYC's greatest exponents of the mystifyingly denoted anti-folk genre came to The Other Room at Birmingham's Ballroom to entertain and inspire - and did both.

Seth Faergolzia (long time head of Dufus as well as having an extensive solo career) won over a 3/4 full room of Jeffrey Lewis fans with an incredibly delivered set of songs that as a perfect opener saw him draw the crowd to the front and join in on his frenetic ride (see www.dufus.tv).

This was my 1st time seeing artist and musician Jeffrey Lewis - forming part of a quartet of musicians (all with excellent vocals). It was a journey - and his journey took us through the sincere and moving and the self-deprecating to college rock and singalongs. Best of all though were some captivating musical walks through animated books (you have to see it).

A very content audience left looking as though they had their fill of intelligent lyricism and entertainment and I was one of them - a long term fan of Seth and now a convert to Jeffrey Lewis. For more about Jeffrey, go here >>> http://www.thejeffreylewissite.com/.

The night was booked by Arthur Tapp / The Catapult Club. We should all be grateful that such promoters remain in Birmingham to take a risk on artistic acts.
